Fremantle Sailing Club (FSC) with the support of Indonesian Consulate General for Western Australia has held the event to celebrate the success of “2017 Fremantle to Bali Ocean Classic” and to soft-launch the “Fremantle Bali – Yacht Race 2020” in Fremantle Sailing Club (https://www.fsc.com.au/) on Friday, 7 June 2018.

On 6 May 2017, 14 sailing boats has journeyed for 14 days from Fremantle Marina headed to Bali. On the friday event, the Consul General Mrs. Dewi Tobing has the honoured to present trophies to the winners of the 2017 Fremantle to Bali Ocean Classic yacht race. The Navigators Trophy was awarded to Joe Czeschka from Sadiqi Ra, the Rally Line Honours was awarded to Craig and Janette Hansen from Napea, the Rally Winner was awared to Paul Schapper from Toroa IV, and the YAH Winner/ IRC and Line Honours Winner was awarded to Garth Curran from Walk on the Wildside.

The event also marking the soft launch of the 2020 Fremantle Bali – Yacht Race, which will coincide with the 100th anniversary of Fremantle Sailing Club.On the welcoming speech, the Consul General emphasized her support for the successful of 2020 Fremantle Bali Yacht Race. “We will put all our effort to make sure the 2020 Fremantle Bali Yacht Race successful and unforgettable for our Australian mates”, said Ms Tobing to 100 attendees. The Consul General also invites more yachters from Australia and their family to visit Bali and other parts of Indonesia.  Indonesia with 17.000 islands, is the longest passage in the world.

The Consul General also mentioned that the Government is targeted 5000 yachts visiting Indonesia and is now focusing on marine infrastructure such as marina and anchorage. Moreover, in support of the Marine Tourism, the Government is also have a new regulation making sailing to Indonesia as convenience as possible, one of them is through online vessel declaration. Up to date, there are 21 yachts have registered to join the race. The committee of the event and the Consulate are optimistic to get more yachters participating the 2020 event.
